Are 6 packs good?

I'm 12 years old and 5'1, I'm in very good shape (88 pounds) but do agencies find muscle (6 pack) unusable for print of runway?  I'm dying to do some kind of  modeling, is it possible?

Mr. Agent:
    Hi Rachel,
At 12 years old there really is no hurry in your situation. You are going to be a teenager soon and that is going to put you in the "Adult" category for all intents and purposes. At that point you are going to have to wait until you get a little taller to be considered for modeling. Around 5'7" for print and 5'9" for runway. As far as having a 6 pack, for girls it really is not that important. A toned body is a must for most working models and we certainly do have women here with 6 packs but it is not essential for a girl to model. So basically hang tight for a few years and then dive back in the modeling waters.

Petite & Plus Size Modeling

  Hello I would like to be a model, but I am petite and plus size at the same time. My height is 5 4", size 14, although I am willing to reduce to 12 in order to be a plus size model. Does it exist anybody that represent a petite and plus size person like me? I always thought I was too big even when I was size 8 or 6, but people keep telling me that I am cute, so I wondered if that is still possible because I am 30 years old and I think I waited too long.

   Hi Roxy,
I have not heard of a petite plus size category in the modeling business. We are simply a subset of the clothing and advertising business. Whatever they want we find and provide. Also remember that plus size generally starts at 16 and up. So you at 12 really are in between size categories. I would guess that modeling on a regular basis should not be a career objective of yours. Remember there are lots of other jobs in the fashion business like acting, photography, styling, and marketing. It's a big world, find out what you like and go for it!

In between sizes

I've been told that I should try modeling however, most models i see are stick thin or, the "plus size" however, I'm neither and rather I'm in the middle about 5'8 135lbs. are my chances slim to none in this industry?

Mr. Agent:
I assume you are a size 10. That would be an in between size for us. The "problem" with this size is just about how you put it. You are basically too large for most fashion bookings, and, too small for plus size. Most of our plus size client like to book women size 16 and bigger. However, there is an area that you can work in. That is the Promotional Division. Promo models usually make around $30 an hour and work at trade shows and events. They interact with clients and must have an outgoing personality. They are normally on the glamorous side. Full figured and attractive. If this fits you, then being a size 10 usually won't be a hindrance to working. Good luck!
