I hit up the Ecologique "fashion for a green future" show at Onyx Thin Saturday night. All in all it was a pretty good event.
They funneled everyone downstairs to check out some local green designers and their wares. I recognized Salvation Sacks right away, I've had one of her bags for a couple years. It's awesome. The goal was to fund raise for breast cancer, and I hope the event was successful on that front.
On the attendance front, it was extremely successful. People were packed in waiting for the fashion show to start. Unfortunately, the show took a little longer than anticipated to start, and since I was sick I was pretty much over it and left at about 11:45pm, missing half the designers. Here are a few pictures I snapped of the first few designs I was able to catch.
Unfortunately I missed the underwear men due to my leaving early. Tragic, I know.
One thing I really liked was the mix mashing of retro style with modern heels. It's nice to think we can dress up from different eras without having to commit all the way down to the shoe. I enjoyed the combo.
And the most entertaining thing of the whole night? Well, while I was waiting forEVER for the show to start, I was amused to watch this guy (pictured below) standing there kinda hardcore while a multitude of trendy blondes and brunettes took their turns trying to dance with him. He just stood there ignoring them, it was pretty classic. Thanks hardcore guy!
I think Andrea Krystine did a fabulous job creating a frenzy and a buzz about this show. I was disappointed when she was talking because I could not hear anything she was saying, and I feel that the topics of sustainability and design are important. Definitely points that many people in attendance could benefit from hearing. There was one point where a group of loud men were drinking, right next to the runway, right next to Andrea, yelling over her microphone. She asked them 4 times if she could please have their attention, before they even noticed. Maybe a less loud venue next time, or a little earlier in the evening? It was still a wonderful event.
