Lee National Denim Day Event

Lee National Denim Day Event is a single-day fundraiser created by Lee Jeans to support the Women's cancer programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation. Our Salon Hair & Spa in Rancho Bernardo has started a team as a fun easy way to contribute to the fight against breast cancer. All you have to do is donate $5 to their team and wear your favorite jeans on Friday Oct. 2. To donate go to denimday.com and enter team ID#234560. Or you can come by their beautiful salon on Friday, October 2, 2009  and they will donate $10 for every haircut or Spray Tan service to Lee National Denim Day. Accessories Make Your Outfit

Have a blah outfit?

Ladies, ladies, ladies, please do not underestimate accessories! Kick your outfit up a notch with some fab accessories. Turn your plain white tank top and boring beige skirt into a super trendy outfit worthy of a night out on the town. Turn your grey and white beach tunic into a glamourous outfit that will make heads turn.

Accessories are so cheap and go such a long way. Forever 21 has hundreds of accessories under $10 each, so does Charlotte Russe and H&M.

From head to toe these ladies are workin' their accessories. A hat, earrings, necklace, vest, belt, chunky bracelets, and fabulous footwear.

Spray Makeup

Sephora's website is featuring a new product called TEMPTU. Specializing in airbrush makeup. The coolest thing (I think) that TEMPTU makes is their new AIRpod brush that they say " provides the equivalent of four brushes in one—foundation, concealer, blush, and highlighter". The new AIRpod also has an adjustable pressure gauge allowing you to control how heavy or light you apply it. Here is a training video I found on YouTube, even if you think you know what your doing, new product = new techniques. check it out. Spray foundations that I have tried and LOVE are Dior Air Flash and Guerlain Terracotta Spray I have turned a few ladies on to these and they say they have never looked back! (or better). Other benefits to using spray makeup is that you use less make up because it is applied directly to your face. It is also much more sheer and blendable than powders or creams. The Woman Behind Fashion Whore

As you may already know this Saturday, October 3rd, will be another Fashion Whore event. What you may not know is the woman behind it.

With a theatre degree from UCSD, May*star has an incredible resume of writing, acting and modeling as well as being a producer of fashion show dance parties. She started this L.A. style electro-indie event in 2005 when she realized there was only one independent dance night, Gabe Vega's Transport (Gabe Vega is fabulous by the way). "There seemed to be only one night club fashion show a year." May*star continued, "I also wanted to help my designer friends promote their work."

Now, after four years of featuring San Diego's most creative established and emerging independent designers, Fashion Whore is the most popular fashion show dance party in San Diego with press coverage in numerous publications.

This Saturday you will be seeing a guest designer from San Francisco: Dyno-Solo by Danielle, the local designer Noel Laws, outfits from Hunt & Gather, a new local boutique, and Kenny King. "Kenny King is an artist and eclectic dresser, so I have asked him to style a portion of the show using garments from his own closet."

Perhaps because May*star has made her own rules, her Fashion Shows have attracted the stylish crowd from all over. Hipsters, students, photographers and the fashion inspired from North Park, Hillcrest, La Jolla, Chula Vista and Tijuana have all been drawn into this diverse mix of fashion and even the themes. "I create themes for each night so that the attendees can participate in the creativity as well. October 3rd's optional theme will be High-Fashion Funeral Party ." I am thinking a sea of black will be in store for the party goers.

Book Review: The Sartorialist by Scott Schuman

Like so many followers of fashion, I'm a big fan of Scott Schuman's photography and his street style blog The Sartorialist. While getting my morning latte at Borders in Mission Valley, I decided to pick up a copy of his new book The Sartorialist from Penguin. First, I have to say how much I like the size of this book, it's over 500 pages but it's compact so you are able to easily carry it around. The book features many new photos that have never been posted on his blog.This is a great book for anyone love fashion, style and people watching. I posted below a couple of my favorite photos from this great book.

TEAM EDWARD OR TEAM JACOB?

OK, I am a proud 26 year old TWILIGHT FAN!!

I really did not understand the hype until I fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally gave in to see what all the fuss what about. OH. EM. GEE!! AAAAAAHHHH. There was a phase that I went through earlier this year where I was on the reals wishing to be an actual living breathing vampire! Do you think vampires exists? I hope they do! Nice, beautiful ones like the Cullens.

Seriously, I am more obsessed than you may think.

Can you imagine me, a 26 year old wearing a TEAM EDWARD T-shirt with hearts. Yes, yes I can!

Merchandise will be available for purchase online TOMORROW you guys!! Otherwise, you will have to wait another two weeks until 10/15 to purchase in-store at Nordys. I can only imagine the line...

Night window shopping

I was out tonight hanging out with friends and walked pass this cute boutique  down in OB. I just had to stop and snap some pics. Temptress Fashion is located right across from Winston's for those of you who are familiar with the area. I just had to stop and snap a couple of photos of their pretty clothes. I really love the retro bombshell look of their clothes.

To quote Rachel Zoe "I die", I am in love with this skull skirt, very retro pin-up girl.

This little black dress has bombshell written all over it. The belt on the waist brings it to next level.

Clothing Donation Bins on Adams Avenue

On Adams Avenue and Brancroft in the heart of Normal Heights there is a huge fire truck red bin labeled Clothes & Shoes. 

Donating doesn't get anymore easier people. If you live in the area (North Park, University Heights, Normal Heights, Kensington, City Heights, Mission Valley, sorry if I missed your city, shot out to you too!) put it on your to-do list for the next month just to swing on by and donate one or two fashion mistakes that you never want to wear again!

Even if you just want to get rid of a pair of sneakers -- just toss it, literally. 

The bins are owned by U'SA Gain which is a textile recycling company. They transform clothes and textiles into reusable and valuable products. They ship out most of the pieces to various parts of third world countries to underprivileged individuals. The company also recycles and converts the donated clothing into fibers to be remade into the textile industry.

You are essentially helping others in need and going green all at the same time, so efficient.

Westfield Style Tour

"On the weekend of October 16-18th, Westfield UTC becomes one of six premier shopping centers across the U.S. to host The Westfield Style Tour presented in partnership with Modelinia.

The event will feature entertainment, fashion celebrations and one-on-one shopping consultations with leading celebrity stylists. Highlights of the tour include hands-on style presentations hosted by Laura Bennett of Project Runway Season 3 on Saturday, October 17th at 1pm and 4pm.

Based on results, visitors will then be escorted to their designated Style Closet. Here, a high-profile celebrity stylist from Modelinia will be waiting to deliver a personalized “fashion recipe” outlining outfit and product suggestions that are immediately available from retailers at UTC. The free event will also feature discounts, special offers, beauty consultations, makeovers, TRESemmé product giveaways and hairstyle demonstrations, as well as a chance to win a trip to New York Fashion Week in February 2010.

Additionally, dozens of retailers will hold on-stage style sessions throughout the event. The Westfield Style Tour, which is presented with Modelinia and sponsored by TRESemmé, is a national initiative by Westfield focused on the fashion and beauty retail segment. Wholesale Should Get Some Lovin'

Costco is probably my favorite store. 

Yeah, I buy all my toiletries there and it will literally last me all year long, but I also love shopping their designer clothes for like 80% off the retail price. Costco buys very opportunistically meaning the merchandise they have is more likely a one time deal that they signed with a vendor and you better buy it now even if you don't need it because it won't be there next week kind of a deal. They also buy in extreme bulk and provide the service of breaking bulk to consumers like us so we can buy at wholesale prices!

Recently, Costco had Citizen for Humanity and 7 for All Mankind denim in stock for like $59.99 and sold out within a few days (and we are talking thousands of pairs).
