Under the radar, but incredibly fabulous is the Luigi Vera boutique in Hillcrest. Previously downtown, Luigi Vera (the owner's name and title of the store-confusing I know) moved his store to the Hillcrest area this year to be closer to his clientele. "My crowd is here," Luigi says in reference to the stylish and unique folk that frequent Hillcrest's shopping scene.
You may not know what store I am talking about because you think its called one-of-a-kind clothing. When you look quickly at the crazy cluttered shop all you see are those words stamped boldly across the store's awning. If the boutique was called one-of-a-kind clothing it would remind me of a Japanese movie title the way it just tells it how it is. (Good Will Hunting was titled Smart Boy Has Issues in Japan).
One-of-a-kind clothing it is. From inexpensive trendy to vintage finds to slightly used clothing to reconstructed clothing to original designs by the owner himself, Luigi Vera. In the initial photo above you can see a T-shirt from his line to the right of his head. His label is, of course, titled Luigi Vera.
Check it out when you stop by the new Urban Outfitters location. The stores are direct neighbors.
